Geolocation: Location Detection from IP Address
What is Geolocation?
Geolocation is the process of obtaining approximate location information (country, city, coordinates) from an IP address. This information shows which geographic region the IP address comes from.
How Does Geolocation Work?
Geolocation uses databases that show which ISPs and geographic regions IP addresses are assigned to. These databases are created from RIR (Regional Internet Registry) records and real-world data.
Geolocation Accuracy
Geolocation accuracy varies depending on the type of IP address. Mobile IP addresses are generally less accurate, while fixed IP addresses provide more accurate results.
